VOLUNTEERING
Kay Horn received her clock award in May, 2009 for having volunteered 778 hours and was recognized as one of 8 top volunteers in Indiana.
She was an active participant in Girl Scouts. She was a Board Member for the Tribal Trails Council and helped with the realignment when they joined Northern Indiana-Michiana in October, 2008. She also worked with young people in 4-H, read to elementary students at Caston with Partners in Education and sometimes took along a quilt to go with the story she read, helped at the Career Fair for the Leadership Academy. She helped at middle school during ISTEP testing. At the high school she listened to presentation by New Tech high students as they completed their projects.
Kay writes a monthly newsletter for Riverview Community Church and is president of the Friendship Quilters Guild of Plymouth, IN and writes a monthly Newsletter for them. This group has made quilts and donated them to Hemminger House, which is a home for women of domestic violence. Kay is always willing to help others wherever there is a need.
