VOLUNTEERING

President Howard introduced Katie McCarter who gave the Community Service volunteer hours report. The Fulton County retired teachers reported 8,613.5 volunteer hours. 2,158.5 were for youth activities and 6,455 were for adult activities. This is an increase of 769.5 hours with 8 teachers reporting. Each volunteer hour is worth approximately $21.75, so the worth of the volunteer hours amounts to over $187,340 + for the citizens of Rochester and Fulton County. A check replica was presented to Mayor Mark Smiley on behalf of the teachers showing this amount. The check was signed on the back by he Top Ten volunteers for 2011 and they were Ilene Howard, Millie Redweik, John Howkinson, Kay Horn, Mage Zartman, Kaleen Krom-Davis, Karmin Reeves, Phyllis Whitmore, Ann Dielman, and Carol Calloway.

Karmin Reeves was recommended for the outstanding volunteer and nominated for honorable mention was Maxine Bearss, Marge Zartman and Galen Smith.
